Message sent to North Campus families 11/14/22:
Good evening North Campus families,
We are excited to transition into the new 3-story classroom addition as we begin the second semester in January! This work will allow renovation of the existing building to be started as we work toward housing all students grades 9-12 in the unified high school in the fall of 2024.
I am writing tonight to let you know about North Campus calendar changes that were shared at tonight’s School Board meeting. The following timeline will accommodate the construction schedule and allow for a smooth transition into the new space:
- Friday, Jan. 20 - New End of Second Quarter/First Semester (for North Campus only)
- Monday-Wednesday, Jan. 23-25 - Additional Non Student Days (for North Campus only)
- Thursday & Friday, Jan. 26 & 27 - Remain Non Student Days (for all K-12+ students)
Please note: These changes affect North Campus students only. The academic calendar will remain as-is for all other district buildings. The additional three Non Student Days for North Campus students will NOT be distance learning days or need to be made up at another time.
We are preparing multiple opportunities for students and families to become familiar with the new space. Additional information will be shared soon, but please mark on your calendar for preliminary dates of some of the opportunities listed below:
-
Dec. 1, lunch periods: Students will have opportunities over their lunch hour to attend presentation/Q&A sessions in order to learn more about the new addition and the upcoming renovation of the existing building.
-
Dec. 1, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.: Families will have opportunities to attend one of two presentation/Q&A sessions in order to learn more about the new addition and the upcoming renovation of the existing building.
-
Jan. 18, evening: Before the extensive work in the original portion of the building begins, we will host a community-wide event to allow students, families, grads and community members the opportunity to “walk the circles” of North Campus one last time.
Thank you,
Ang Nelson, WBLAHS - North Campus Principal
