Season Expectations
Below are the expectations of each gymnast for the White Bear Lake Girls Gymnastics Season. Each gymnast and parent are agreeing to abide by and respect these expectations throughout season. Our goal with the expectations is to communicate clearly what is expected from each gymnast, create unity on the team, and help the gymnasts understand the commitment for season.
-
Gymnasts will come to each practice wearing the proper attire (Leotard, hair up and out of face, spandex shorts are optional) and with a positive attitude ready to work.
-
Gymnasts will attend all practices during the season, staying for the entire practice. In the rare case I can’t make a practice, my parent/guardian will inform the head coach in advance. I understand it will be up to the coaching staff as to whether or not the absence will be excused.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that an unexcused absence will result in suspension from the next scheduled meet.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that missing multiple practices could result in suspension from the team (coaches will use their discretion).
-
Gymnasts and parents will be respectful to the coaches and teammates.
-
Gymnasts will respect and encourage teammates, only by using positive and motivating words, both during practice and at meets.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that if the gymnast is injured and unable to practice, they are still required to attend practice and support their teammates.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that the gymnast is required to attend practice the day before a meet or they will not be allowed to compete the following day. If the gymnast does miss practice, the gymnast and parents understand that the gymnast is still required to attend the meet and support their team.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that the gymnast must not incur any unexcused absence at school (as outlined in the student attendance policy) the day after a competition if the day is the next consecutive school day of the same week.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that the gymnast is required to attend school the entire day of the event unless they are absent for one of the following reasons: (School activity, medical appointment(requires dr note), one period or less in the Health office, Funeral or Family medical emergency, Student Safety issues)
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that the gymnast is required to attend a full day of school the day before, of, and the day after a meet.
-
Gymnasts will attend each meet in proper warm-up, march -in and competition attire (this is for every gymnast, even those not competing).
-
Gymnasts will be paying attention to the meet and their teammates during the entire meet. If they are not following our meet rules and being a good teammate then they may be out of the next competition.
-
If a gymnast is asked to do a job at a meet it is that gymnast’s responsibility to do said job. DO NOT PASS IT OFF TO SOMEONE ELSE!!! (ie. recording scores, score flashing, timing, etc.)
-
Gymnasts understand that even if they are NOT competing they are still required to march in with team and sit with team for the duration of the meet.
-
Gymnasts will stay with their team during the entire meet.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that the line-up for each meet is at the coach’s discretion and is determined based off of work ethic, attitude, performances both in practices and at meets, and past scores.
-
For home meets, gymnasts will arrive with at least one parent/guardian at the specified time to set-up the main gym. Gymnasts will also have at least one parent/guardian stay after the meet to help take-down. Gymnasts will work on their assigned event and help other teammates when their work is complete. (YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK, SIT, EAT, ETC UNTIL WHOLE GYM IS SET UP AND YOU GET AN OK FROM THE COACHES!!!!)
-
For away meets, gymnasts will arrive on time and ready to ride the bus both to and from the meet. The only exception to this is to have authorization from the coaches ahead of time. (Parents are ONLY allowed to take their child home from a meet, unless they have filled out the proper paperwork through the AD)
-
For away meets gymnasts MUST have proper clothing attire to ride the bus. (coats, hat, etc.) Just wearing the warm-ups or having a blanket will NOT be allowed!
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that in order to earn a Varsity letter the gymnast must meet the lettering criteria.
-
Gymnasts and parents understand that in order to remain on the team throughout the season the gymnast must maintain academic eligibility.
As your coaching staff, we are looking forward to the upcoming season! We believe each gymnast has great potential to excel this season if they are willing to invest the time and effort to achieve success! Let’s get started!
