Automotive Technology 2: Brakes

Automotive Technology 2: Brakes is a level two course where students will learn about the principles and practices of the brake system in an automobile. Building on the foundational knowledge from the Introduction to Automotive Technology course, learners will explore fundamental principles of brakes, hydraulic systems, disc and drum brakes, parking brakes, anti-lock brakes, and power assist systems. By the end of the course, students will be well-equipped to understand the critical role brake systems play in vehicle performance and safety. Aligned with the Automotive Service Excellence's A5 Brakes, this comprehensive and industry-relevant learning experience will empower students to diagnose and repair an automobile's braking system safely. The curriculum will also foster the development of essential work habits and ethics consistent with occupational standards while also preparing students for future careers in the transportation industry.
