This course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. Students will learn to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide two-rescuer and team-based resuscitation, provide rescue breaths, use a bag mask device, AED, and relieve choking. Adult, child, and infant rescue techniques will be covered. The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification, which is required for the ARCC Nursing program and many healthcare professions, can be earned. AHA basic life support performance standards will be followed.
Students have the opportunity to earn college credit for this course through concurrent enrollment with Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
Passing a test and paying a nominal fee is required for certification.
